Evan's graduation and our 5-year bucknell reunion

Over the last week of May Sloane and I headed back to the States for our first trip back since the beginning of the year.

We touched down late on Friday night, and were on the road again Saturday morning heading up to Middlebury College in Vermont for Evan's graduation. When we got there we met Evan and his friends at a party out in the beautiful Vermont country side.

After the party we all got together for dinner. John, Chich, Joanie, Bill, Sloane and I were joined by a group of Evan's friends that had come to help celebrate (his girlfriend Alex, Dave, Nick and Alex).
After dinner the boys (and Alex) set out to join the rest of Middlebury's graduating class who celebrate their graduation by staying up the entire night before. I, using jet lag as my excuse, went back to the hotel with Joanie, Chich and John.

I can't be sure what happened that night...but safe to say this is the happiest that we'd see Bill for the rest of the weekend.

Sloane showed that while he may have six years on the boys, it doesn't mean he can't keep up with the college crew. The college crew, however, had some trouble keeping up the next morning. Bill, Nick and Alex attempted to stay awake through the ceremony (Alex not very successfully), and we had to pull a sleeping Dave out of the bushes on our way out!

Evan and his girlfriend Alex were the only two who managed to stay awake for the entire ceremony. Evan because he was in the front row of his graduating class, and Alex not only stayed awake but looked amazing!

We gathered up for lunch, had the best carrot cake I've ever tasted, and were on the road back to Stamford in no time.

Later in the week I was able to make a quick trip into the city to meet up with a few friends. My first stop was to visit Marina and her baby Anya. After hanging out in her apartment, we decided that we'd brave the subway and took little Anya out for her first subway ride in New York.

After our Subway adventure (I seriously have no idea how women can do this alone with children...it was an effort with two of us!) we met Sarah for a quick lunch. Sarah is a natural with Anya and the four of us had a great lunch! Before we knew it was the end of the week and we were on the road again headed back to Bucknell for our 5-year reunion. After running into the standard route 80 traffic (that we never seem to be able to budget enough time for), I dropped Sloane off at the Alumni golf tournament and headed to the liquor store.

It didn't take us long to get back into college form and it was especially fun for Sloane and I to get a little taste of what it would have been like to be together in college.

Angel even organized a house party! The girls...

And the boys...

With all our friends staying on the same hall it felt like no time had passed since our days as freshmen in Vedder 3-west.

Kathy and Sarah even broke out the Cotton Eyed Joe dance!

The boys were good sports and watched patiently as we took our group shots and sang along to the Crystals and Garth.
After we were satisfied that we had completed our pregame rituals we headed out to the tent party.

The band was great, the fireworks awesome, and everyone (especially Carolyn and Karli!) had a fantastic time.

The only problem was that Sloane was intent on getting on the road early the next morning to get home. I wanted to remain in the Bucknell bubble for as long as possible. So, like any rational person, I instructed everyone we met to make Sloane drink. Challenge him to chug, give him a shot, whatever it took. By the end of the night Sloane was feeling no pain!

We woke up the next morning (at a reasonable hour) in our dorm room and headed to the Caf for the final college meal of the weekend. We then said a sad goodbye to our friends and to our weekend of college life...at least until our 10 year reunion!
